Goodness. Truth. Beauty.

Forgive this technube for her extremely long absence... she has been valiantly struggling to put up an entry *pray that everything works*

Well, I've been reading a whimsical book by Muriel Spark, "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie" and a line got me pondering. "But Safety does not come first. Goodness, Truth and Beauty come first."

Goodness. Truth. Beauty.

When people tell me I'm nice, I'm very touched and pleased. However, now I can't help wondering whether I'm being good to be well thought of or to be true to myself.

My brother told me about his friend who was working as a salesman and was troubled about praying at night. He finally settled on something like this, "Please, God, let me bluff as many people as possible..." I think not only him but so many of us are forced to be untruthful, which is rather sad.

Naturally, things that are good and true are beautiful to me. Which is probably why watching the news makes me think there is very little beauty in this world. But when I listen to a lovely song or read a haunting story or see dew on a simple flower, I am reminded that beauty is all around us and we only have to look for it.

I hope to be good and true. To be beautiful and make this ravaged world a little bit beautifuller. So smile when you read this to fulfil this wish =>
